Interview with Chris Starr 2013

-Introduce yourself

Hey everyone! I'm Chris Starr

-What has inspired you to make music?

Life pretty much. I've always been drawn to music and have always had a
knack for rhythmns and melodies.

-Are you currently signed to a record label?

Not yet

-What is one thing you can't live without?

Music of course!

-What do you think of fans of your music?

I think they're great for supporting indie acts and liking my music because
it sounds good and appeals to them rather than follow a trend or movement and be part of the in crowd

-How would you describe your music to someone who hasn't heard it before?

A rock ride your ears won't soon forget

-At what age did you decide you wanted to pursue a career in music?

Around 19 years old

-Any specific plans for music in your future?

I'm writing and recording my 1st album currently. Aside from that, hitting
the road and tourring wherever I can

-What do you connect to most in music?

The message. How the power, influence and emotion simple words can evoke a person's perception of things.

-What do you relate to most in your music?

Personal relationships mostly. Their diversity and the inner turmoil
that can come from them.

-Which of your songs would you say best suits your style?

As of right now, " Heartless " because it's really how I like to dish
out my messages: Raw.

-What message do you hope to send to those who listen to your music?

That they aren't alone in what they're living/feeling. That other people have lived,
live and will live their type of situation and that theres always hope. That and the fact
that they can talk about it and should talk about what their feeling and not just
pile it up inside of them.

- What was the most challenging part (in your opinion) so far? How have/do you plan to overcome it?

Always coming out with something better then the last thing you did I find is the most
challenging part right now. Trying to keep up with the same formula
but at the same time making something fresh that people will appreciate as much
if not more then your last release. Writing a lot really helps me develop different aspects of it all so
I jot down everything that goes through my mind and see what I can do with it. Either I can use
it now or later but either way, I have it written down.

-Are there any themes you try to put in or leave out of your music?

I'm more for interpersonal relations. Life situations. People stuff. I haven't come accross a
subject yet though where i've actually said no i can't or won't write about this.

-What are your favorite and least favorite places to play?

I really can't say. I've had bad shows but i won't go as far as say that it
was the fault of a venue.

-What do you consider to be your genre?

Old school Rock with a new school twist

-What sort of process do you go through in order to write a song?

I write according to a mood i'm in or a memory/situation that's bringing out
that mood. From there, lyrics come into place, then guitars, bass, drums and
finally vocal melodies. I wouldn't go as far as say that's a typical process because
sometimes a vocal melody may come out first with only a few words but it's enough
to set the tone for the rest of the writing process. Being a multi instrumentalist
really has its advantages when you can do everything and opens the doors to plenty
of possibilities but at the same time can be a pain since sometimes you have trouble
knowing from where to start.

-Do you have brand preferences when selecting music equipment? If so, which and why?

I've recently fallen in love with Hagstrom guitars. Aside from that, if it sounds good,
i'll play with it. Even if it's not recognized by big shots and doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

-How has your music grown since you started?

On a scale from 1 to 10? 20. Everyday is a new adventure not only in the process of creating music
but as well as learning about the industry itself. Working with professionals and other bands has really
helped me get new perspective and has greatly broadened my view of things. I'm really greatful to have
met and gotten to work with the people i've worked with so far.

-How can fans and fans-to-be gain access to your music? Do you have a website with sample songs or a demo CD?

You can hear my music on soundcloud for now at: www.soundcloud.com/chrisstarr and on youtube on my channel
ChrisStarrOne. If they want, my music is also available for download on www.cdbaby.com at the following links:

www.cdbaby.com/chrisstarr2
www.cdbaby.com/chrisstarr3

-What advice would you give to someone who wanted to start a band?

Like AC/DC once said " It's a long way to the top if you wanna rock n' roll " but if you
keep at it magic happens. Maybe not fame and fortune but you'll definitely have
the time of your life. Work hard but play harder ( and louder. Always louder ;) )

-Would you ever like to do another interview with us?

Definitely!

-
Would you like to do more fun/funny questions in another interview?

Why not? I'd hate to bore anyone by sounding to seriouslike all the time

-Would you care for more personal questions?

As long as they don't involve bank account numbers and P.I.N's i'm all for

-Last words?
