Blinded Memory Interview
1: Who are all of the band members and what is their role in the band?
BM - For now there are only 4 of us - Eric is our lead vocalist, Dmitry and Michael play guitar, Vladimir is our drummer, and we are currently searching for someone to fill up the bassist’s place.
2: When and how did you get together as a band? How did you decide to make music together?
BM - Eric founded the band back in 2010, but he is the only one left from the original roster, all the other guys joined the band in 2012.
3: How old were you when you formed/joined the band?
Eric – I was 20 years old when I founded BM
Dmitry – I was 19 when I joined the band.
Michael - I was 18
4: Why did you want to get into music?
Eric – I was into music since deep childhood, always wanted to play in the band, so I started my first band when I was 17, I was a guitarist back then )
Dmitry - I never played in a band before, it was something new for me, so I decided to find myself one.
Michael – I was into music as long as I remember myself, I graduated from the musical school a few years ago, and I always wanted to play in a serious band, so when I got a chance to join BM, I didn’t think for long :D
5: What is the origin of your band name? Has it changed since you began playing?
BM – Yes, we had another name back when we were just getting started, but it was a bit hard for the locals to pronounce so we decided to change it. Our current name was chosen because first of all we liked how it sounds :D And also it reflects the contradictions both in our lyrics and music, where the heavy riffs transform into soft melodies, lyrics about love in one song suddenly change into destructive stories in another song, and so on.
6: What is the meaning behind "The Downfall"?
BM – “The Downfall” is a song about a person, who doesn’t care about anyone else’s feelings, that goes around destroying people’s lives, but doesn’t care about it at all, but in the end those who suffered have his revenge on him.
7: What sort of meaning is behind your new single "Reborn"?
BM – “Reborn” is about a person, who suddenly realizes that he lived all his life in vain, wasting time on meaningless things, and he decides to return to the beginning, forget about the past, and just start from the blank page.
8: Would you rather write a hit song or a song that meant a lot to you?
Eric – I’d rather write a song that meant a lot to me, because I put a piece of my soul in every line that I write, and if this song will become a hit song, that would be twice cooler :D
Dmitry - I'd rather wrote a hit song because I like to play popular songs.
9: How do you relate your music?
BM – We love what we do, and we love our music, and we hope once people will hear it, they will love it too
10: How do you hope to influence society with your music?
BM – Honestly we never had intentions to influence anyone with our music, we just do what we love to do, and if anyone finds in our music something that he can relate to, it makes us feel happy.
11: What is your main source of inspiration?
Eric – I find inspiration in all kinds of places, in the things that surround me, in the music I listen to, practically in everything )
Dmitry – I get inspired by all kinds of things, mostly music.
Michael – I usually get inspired by the music I listen to.
12: If you had to pick one, what band do you think has influenced your music the most?
Eric – Well I can say that I’ve been influenced by a hell lots of bands, but there were 2 bands that made probably the hugest impact on me, those were Linkin Park and Bullet For My Valentine, LP got me into rock music at all, and BFMV made me fall in love with the genre we play now
Dmitry – I can't pick one band because every band that I listen to influenced me a lot.
Michael – Probably Parkway Drive.
13: Are you currently signed to a record label? If so, which one and do you like being with them?
BM – Nope, we are currently unsigned, and are searching for a record label.
14: Are there any specific plans set for more music?
BM – Yes, we are currently working on our first full-length album, that will be released later this year
15: Could you ever see yourself being on Warped Tour?
BM – Sure, we’d love to play the Warped Tour one day, that would be awesome!
16: Where have you performed? What are your favorite and least favorite venues? Do you have any upcoming shows?
BM – We have performed in different cities, clubs and festivals in our home country during the last few years, but this year we plan to start playing shows abroad. We don’t have a least favorite venue, but our most favorite probably is Melna Piektdiena, we’ve played a lot of shows there, it’s like our home venue already :D Yeah, right now we’ve got a headlining show in our hometown with our mateband from Finland, and in May we will be playing a show here with some bands from Russia and Lithuania. But we also keep working on shows in other countries as well.
17: Do you have a set list or do you change it for each show? Or, do you make it up as you go?
BM – We prepare a setlist for our every show, sometimes we play the same setlist for a few shows in a row, usually we change it once we start rehearsing and playing new songs.
18: What exactly would you consider your genre to be?
BM – We define our genre as Melodic Metalcore, but we are all influenced by a wide range of genres, from pop-punk to deathcore, so you can hear the influences of a lot of genres in our music.
19: How do your songs tend to get written and by whom? Is it a group process?
BM – Eric is our main songwriter, usually he writes the main theme, and then together we develop the song.
20: What themes do you commonly find when writing a song?
Eric – I write lyrics about any topic I feel about writing in that particular moment, I don’t usually have some special ideas like “I need to write a love song” or “ I need to write a song about ponies and butterflies” :D I just write what I feel about writing
21: Do you have a band mascot of some sort? If so, what is it and why is it such? Does it hold special meaning?
BM - Yeah, we have a band mascot, but we’re keeping it’s identity a secret :D Maybe we will reveal it someday, but definitely not so soon :P
22: What has been your most challenging moment as a band? How did you overcome it?
BM – Probably the end of year 2012, when we had 2 major line-up changes, but we had a lot of shows already booked, and we had to quickly get prepared for the show, but in the end we managed to prepare a kickass show as always, but that wasn’t an easy task :D
23: If you could sum up your band in one sentence, what would it be?
BM – A band from a little country, that will make you mosh, headbang and go crazy with us :D
24: Describe your life with one of your songs and explain why.
BM – I don’t think the life of any of us can be described with only one of our songs, we all been through different situations in our life, and I don’t think there is a song in the world that would describe it all :D
25: How would you describe yourselves?
BM - We are a bunch of ordinary guys, that love playing music, and enjoy each and every moment when we are on stage In ordinary life we do the same things as others do – hang out, work, have fun
26: What kind of music might someone hear if they overheard some music you were listening to?
BM – Well as we said earlier we are influenced by a lot of genres, so people can hear a lot of stuff in our music
27: How can fans and fans-to-be gain access to your music? Do you have a website with sample songs or a demo CD?

28: What advice would you give to someone who wanted to start a band?
BM – First of all – do it for the music sake, don’t ever start a band for the fame and glory. But if you love music, and want to do music – always give a 100% best at what you do, and enjoy each and every moment of it. And if you and your bandmates will do it, you’ll be a successful band for sure
